    Description

    Columbia Silverplate
    Casserole Spoon
    by 1847 Rogers
The Columbia pattern was specifically designed to be featured at the 1893 World's Fair Columbian Exposition.
The Columbian Exposition was designed to mark the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s discovery of the Western Hemisphere and celebrate his landing in America.
The design shows a romanticized version of the scaly sea serpent cresting above the waves which many sailors in the time of Columbus feared.
