    Description

This is an Estate Fresh old Ladle from a long time collector of High End Sterling Hollowware.  I have purchased part of a huge collection and will be offering it here over the next several weeks.  This pieces are from all over place including Paris England Germany and here in the US.
This particular piece is just a stunning RARE 1793 13" STERLING SILVER & EBONY SAUCE or GRAVY LADLE made in LONDON by THOMAS STREETIN.  Based on the Hallmarks on the sauce bowl, the piece was made in 1793, feel free to check this out and confirm that for yourself.  The Bowl and the 2 accent pieces are Sterling, one being a tooled band in the middle and the other is a crossed hatched Acorn Finial at the top.  The Silver hallmarks are first a stylized S in a squarish shield w a point at the bottom, next is the Crowned Lion for London followed by the forward facing Lion for Sterling Silver and last the TS in a rectangle box for Thomas Streetin, one of his earliest registered marks.  There is no Duty hallmark on the piece.
The handle is Ebony I believe or some other dark very strong wood with a carved Twist on the upper half.  It has a tiny ding or nick in the edges but no other damage cracks or issues.
This fantastic piece is 13" long from Bowl to the top of its Acorn decorated handle,  and the bowl is 3 3/8" wide, pour spout to other end.  Its 2.25" the other way and about 7/8" deep which is why I am convinced its a Sauce ladle vs punch as one would be filling the punch cup all night.  Maybe Nog but probably sauce, as England loves its sauces and its usually hot which is why the wood handle is perfect, as an all Sterling one would also get hot to pick up.  Its an amazing beautiful piece and you'll go a long way to find another.
